Does high school math intimidate you? Then let Mr. D Math teach your kids precalculus with trigonometry!
I received Mr. D Math: Self-Paced Precalculus with Trigonometry for free and was compensated for my time. All opinions are mine and I was not required to post a positive review. For more information, please read my disclosure.
I don’t know about you, but after 25 years, it’s hard to remember how to solve:
(sec²x – tan²x) / (1+cot²)x = sin²x
Now I suppose that I could sit down and relearn precalculus with trigonometry, but I really don’t have the time for that.
My kids want dinner on the table every night!
I needed someone else to teach my kid high school math. Someone who could easily explain precalculus without having to constantly review what the various terms meant. Someone who could answer questions and let me do what I do best.
Be mom!
In the past, I had an amazing experience with Mr. D Math ACT Math Bootcamp, so I enrolled my son in Mr. D Math Self-paced Precalculus with Trigonometry.
Why Mr. D Math: Self-Paced Precalculus with Trigonometry?
Mr. D Math self-paced courses are a great compromise between a taught class and a completely self-taught class – or one where the parent is expected to teach math.
The information is covered thoroughly. And kids have prearranged help sessions so they can get detailed explanations as needed – or simply sit in the help session and listen to other people’s questions.
And you set the hours your child works on math each day. This is handy, especially if your child has extracurricular activities that interfere with the normal school hours.
A pacing guide is included to help you figure out a good speed to start your kids, but if you need to slow down. Slow down. If your child’s ready to move faster. Move faster!
Using Mr. D Math
What’s interesting about Mr. D Math Precalculus with Trigonometry, is that there is no textbook – nor are the problems online.
Instead, you have an online video that is the lecture, a daily printout of the math problems in the course work, and a daily printout of the solutions.
Before your child sits down, you’ll want to print out the course work and the solutions as Mr. D Math recommends that kids have math problems with them when they’re listening to the lecture. He covers all the types of problems on the course work during the lecture.
You can print the entire chapter at one time, or you can print each section daily before sitting down to the lecture.
Then your kid sits down for the lecture.
Mr. D Math covers any definitions and explanations and then begins to work through similar problems to what’s on the practice sheet.
Consider printing the coursework single-sided so your kid has the room to copy down the problems used as an example.
After the lecture is finished, it’s time for your kid to grade the coursework. They then enter their coursework grade into their account. If a score of less than 75% is received, it’s recommended they go back and redo the lesson.
After the coursework grade is entered, there’s a short online quiz to complete.
That’s the daily lessons – a lecture, course work, grade the course work, and an online quiz.
At the end of each chapter, there’s a chapter test. Plus there are semester exams at the end of each semester.
