One of the hardest parts about homeschooling a bunch of young children was finding a science curriculum that simplified my life.
History curricula for multi-age kids were a dime a dozen! It was easy to find one that fit the needs of my family.
But science? That was another matter.
The science programs tended to be too difficult for my youngest kids. And when I tried to get a discussion going, the kids looked at me with blank faces.

Disclosure: I received Science in the Ancient World for free and was compensated for my time creating this review. All opinions are mine.

Or the curriculum was too simplistic for my older kids… who politely sat bored at the table.
The only time all the kids were engaged and learning science was when we pulled out experiments, projects, and demonstrations. My kids adored hands-on learning!
This is why I was so excited to discover Berean Builders and their science curriculum: Science in the Ancient World!
It’s a science curriculum designed for families with multiple kids. Plus, it includes plenty of hands-on learning activities.
Elementary Homeschool Science
While Berean Builders offers homeschool science curricula for all ages, from elementary school kids to high school students, I picked up Science in the Ancient World.
I thought it would be fun to connect my children’s history and science lessons. In my experience, kids retain more when their lessons are intertwined.
I love Science in the Ancient World! It’s designed to be used with elementary kids of all ages. You have easy discussion questions for your youngest children to answer. Slightly more challenging questions for older kids, and very challenging questions for your oldest kids.
The lessons are also short enough to fit small children’s attention spans as they are usually less than three pages.
And the science curriculum also includes plenty of hands-on science!

Hands-on Homeschool Science
I adore that the lesson in the curriculum includes a hands-on activity. The hands-on activities keep kids engaged and learning. And I know my kids would remember the activities we completed long after they forgot the discussions.
For instance, when you’re learning about the magnetic poles, it’s the perfect time to play with magnets!
And because the activities aligned with the lesson, the kids remembered the information!
Faith-Based Learning
Berean Builders is a science curriculum that integrates a Christian worldview into the lessons. I especially love the explanation about BC and AD, and why there’s no zero on the timeline of history.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Science in the Ancient World covers the various disciplines of science like physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science. You’re not stuck learning only about biology or anatomy with your kids. Instead, they learn a little bit about all of the scientific disciplines throughout the year as they follow the history of science.
And the science curriculum is set up like a story, making it easy for the kids to follow!
