If you have a teenager, like I do, then you know they want to earn money. My teens have run so many ideas by me … from mowing lawns to babysitting to dog walking. And we’re always on the lookout for new business ideas for teens!

My kids want to earn money to save for college. Money to head to the movies with friends. And money to buy their favorite candy at the store.

But it’s hard to make money as a young teen. And kids have so many questions to answer.

Questions like:

  • Where do you go for work?
  • How do you find people willing to hire you?
  • How do you convince your parents who insist that education comes first?

One easy solution is to start a business!

Business Ideas for Teens

Sometimes I think every teenager alive is a budding entrepreneur and ready to get down to business. The business may be selling art, babysitting, mowing lawns, or even starting a creative reduce-reuse-recycle side gig.

It doesn’t matter. My teenagers have dreams! And if you don’t rush through high school, you have time to follow through with these dreams.

However, it’s harder to start a business than just making a pitcher of lemonade, a few cookies, and setting up a table in the front yard.

My teens need to figure out what to sell and if people will actually want to purchase their product.

They need to figure out where to sell the product and how to get set up. And what can they do by themselves and what do they need me for.

The details are mind boggling!

The Gig Economy

That’s way I was delighted to discover a book titled, Teen’s Guide to Making and Selling Upcycled Arts and Crafts: How to Start a Creative Reduce-Reuse-Recycle Side Gig!

This book is just what my teens need! It’s a blueprint on how to start a business selling upcycled crafts.

Now, I’ll admit, I thought the book would be full of ideas and instructions on how to put the crafts together. But the Teen’s Guide to Making and Selling Upcycled Arts and Crafts doesn’t tell kids how to turn trash into art. To be honest, my kids don’t need help with inspiration.

No, the book is better than that!

Teen’s Guide to Making and Selling Upcycled Arts and Crafts is a guide on how to actually launch a business as a teenager. Or as an adult. The blueprint works no matter what your age!

Teens Guide to Making and Selling Upcycled Arts and Crafts walks my teens through all the steps.

Steps like:

  • How to find ideas for crafts to make.
  • How to determine if the crafts will be profitable and if someone wants to buy them.
  • How to figure out a name for the business.
  • Where to sell the products.
  • How to determine the right price.
  • Figuring out the legal details like zoning.
  • How to market your business.
  • How to sell through arts and crafts fairs.
  • How to sell through Etsy.
  • How to start selling wholesale.
  • And more!

Everything my teenager needs is right there. It’s amazing!

In short, the book teaches my kids the business aspects of starting a business. It gives them a blueprint to use as they get started. One that even includes checklists.

And the blueprint works, no matter what business ideas my teens have!

This means that each of my kids can start their own business, one with the potential to help pay their way through college!

James Dillehay, the author of Teen’s Guide to Making and Selling Upcycled Arts and Crafts, also has a free ebook you can download: Blueprint for Selling Handmade Products!
