Homeschool Parenting Tips To Stay on Top of Kids’ Education

Thankfully, there are a few ways homeschool moms can stay on top of their children’s education.  So let’s get started!

1. Create a Homeschool Schedule

One of my best tips is to create a homeschool schedule for your family. The schedule will help you map out when to eat breakfast, read, do morning time, and complete their math lesson.

Remember though, that homeschooling doesn’t have to happen just between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. You can schedule a read-aloud in the evening or at bedtime.

Try having a history discussion around the dinner table. Or set up an art project late in the afternoon to keep the kids busy while you prepare dinner.

In my experience homeschooling six children, I’ve found a homeschool schedule to be vital to making sure everything happened as planned. Otherwise, time slips through my fingers and bedtime arrives.

And I have no idea what happened to the day.

So create a homeschool schedule for your family and give yourself the gift of a plan.

Use a homeschool Planner

Another tool in my arsenal to stay on top of my children’s education is to use a homeschool planner. The homeschool planner allows me to see what needs to be done each day.

I can easily check assignments, sit down with a child to teach grammar, and know when we’ll be studying the Mayflower.

A good homeschool planner doesn’t just help me stay on top of the homeschooling. It also helps me stay on top of my family’s household management.

Appointments are included so that I can plan my homeschool week around that week’s responsibilities. Plus, I know what’s working and what’s not working.

A good homeschool planner is indispensable if you want to stay on top of kids’ education.

3. Stay on top of your household organization

Part of staying on top of your children’s education includes the need to stay on top of your household organization. This is because when the house falls apart, it’s hard to know what you need to do each day.

Papers get lost in the shuffle. Meals don’t happen. Kids are crabby. And life is chaotic.

Now I’m not saying you need a pristine house without a speck of dust anywhere. I have never kept that perfect of a household. It’s unrealistic. Especially with kids.

However, it is important to keep a reasonably clean house. A reasonably clean house will allow you to keep the kids in clean clothes and put meals on the table at a regular hour.

You’ll enjoy curling up in a tidy living room to enjoy a read-aloud. And you’ll be able to find the papers you need for your child’s education and homeschool management.

Staying on top of your home will help you stay on top of your child’s education.

4. Use Online Tutoring to Stay on Top of Kids Education

Kids sometimes need extra reading help or math help. Tutoring is a great way to give kids the extra help they need to get the fundamental skills in place.

However trying to get out the door can be challenging since that means finding shoes, packing a diaper bag, and figuring out what to do with all the siblings while one child is tutored.

An easier solution is to take advantage of online tutoring. Your child can receive the help they need from the comfort of your home. And you don’t need to disrupt your family’s flow in order to head out the door.

5. Use a Family App Like Beehive

Beehive offers a family app that helps you manage your homeschool and keeps your household organized. And it also helps you find online reading and math help for your kids.

You can stay on top of assignments and see how your children’s grades are doing. You get a lovely graph showing if the grades are going up, staying the same, or going down.

The Beehive app will also alert you if a child does need extra help and help you find online tutoring. Plus, Beehive makes it easy for both parents to stay involved in their children’s education.

And if that wasn’t enough, Beehive also helps you organize your household. You can enter assignments, doctor’s appointments, and activities. It’s like having your own personal assistant!
