In reply to Carlie. We've fallen into the trap of checking off lists or just trying to do the curriculum as stated. It's amazing how burned out everyone became. I've also been working at recapturing the love of schooling and the year is going so much better. A bit of enthusiasm goes a long way! :-)

This a great post to remind us about the love for learning. Last year, I felt like we had fallen into the trap of checking off the lists, so this year I’ve tried hard for us to recapture the love. It’s amazing how much more enjoyable everything becomes.

In reply to Kendall. Our attitudes make such a difference with our kids. If we're interested, curious, and asking questions, the kids are much more involved than when we treat learning as a chore. You're right, Kendall, as adults we need to be leading the way in wonder and curiosity.

I agree that children are easy to educate because of their natural curiosity. I would also argue that aside from the tips you’ve mentioned here, if we as adults can be curious and express our wonder about things, that is another way to inspire and ensure that our children will also remain that way. I think, generally speaking, humans are naturally curious altogether, but we often suppress our wonder thinking we know so much.
