  4. Having been home schooled and looking forward to homeschooling our children when they get a little older… a lot of your ideas reminded me of good times growing up, and anticipating good times to come with our own!
    Thank you for the smile!!

  5. Great list! It is my first year homeschooling and I can relate to all of these great reasons and I would add to it you can teach more about what you think is important instead of the public school system.

  6. I was homeschooled growing up, and I definitely loved the flexibility1 My family moved often, so having consistency in education instead of changing schools all the time was really nice!

  7. This list brought a smile to my face!

Thank you for stopping by the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop this week. We hope to see you drop by our neck of the woods next week!

  8. This is a great list! We are homeschooling for the first year and I love the Classical Style of Education! I am curious as to what science curriculum you use and does it span over multiple grades/ages? Thanks so much!

    1. My oldest three children are in high school, my fourth is 6th grade, and the youngest two are preschool. We’ve ended up separating science. We’ve enjoyed using Elemental Science for the K-8 years. It can be adapted to span multiple grades and ages. πŸ™‚

  9. Our favorite things about homeschooling/road schooling is that we have the freedom to teach wherever we want to, anywhere in the world is our classroom.. We also get to let our kids learn to love learning and they do! We’re not burdened by scores and requirements, our kids learn at their own pace and what they want to learn. And lastly (and I think it mostly applies to roadschooling, although homeschoolers do it too) we can have the most in depth learning experiences ever as the kids can go to and live the places and things we learn about. One thing I’ve always thought was that we learn best what we experience ourselves! We love the individualized learning each of our kids gets and how much joy they have when we yell ‘school time’ for me growing up in public schools we never delighted in learning the way our kids do!

    1. I completely agree, Stephanie, the freedom to teach when, how, and where we wish is delightful. Your homeschool, or roadschool, sounds like an marvelous adventure for your family! πŸ™‚

  10. I love homeschooling for all of the reasons you mentioned above. Regarding the stresses of getting the kids to do their school work, I try to keep things in an eternal perspective. Yes, they need to do their school work no matter what, but one day they will be standing before their Lord. At that point, what is really going to be important? I ask myself this question when things get stressful and it helps me keep my perspective. Thanks for sharing this amazing article!
