Do you need an easy-to-use high school economics curriculum?

I received Principles and Precepts of Economics for free and was compensated for my time. All opinions are mine and I was not required to post a positive review.

My teenage daughter is one of those kids who’s fascinated by everything.

She enjoys reading through the great books, following rabbit trails of research, and coming home with piles of books on a topic.

And one of the subjects she’s curious about is economics.

Not a topic I’m interested in studying right now. So I was delighted to have the opportunity to offer her Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum’s Principles and Precepts of Economics to study.

Having used English IV in the past, I knew Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum offers curricula for Jr High and High School and these courses are super easy to use. Just what we needed.

For instance Principles and Precepts of Economics comes in three chapters. Each chapter includes a text and activity book for your kid to use. The text is divided into 15 topics. This means your child has 45 topics to cover over 90 days since Principles and Precepts of Economics is a half-credit course.

Usually, each topic is 3-5 pages long. In addition, the activity book is a workbook with various types of questions designed to check comprehension and understanding of the text.

  • True/false questions
  • Understand cause and effect relationships
  • Fill-in-the-blank

In addition, there’s a pile of 3-hole punched loose-leaf pages for you. This packet of material contains everything you need to easily guide your child through the course.

  • Table of content for the textbooks
  • Activity answer keys
  • Section quizzes
  • Chapter tests
  • Quiz answer keys
  • Chapter test answer keys

You’re allowed to reproduce these as needed to educate your teen.

For instance, your child should have access to the activity answer keys so they can correct their answers each day. After all, we’re working for our kids to take charge of their education! It’s recommended that you make a copy of the answer keys and give the copy to your teen. This way they can mark up both the answer key and their activity book as needed without worry.

Obviously, you keep the quizzes and chapter tests away from your student.

So now that we’ve looked at the setup, how does it actually work in a homeschool?

Easy to Use High School Economics Curriculum

Principles and Precepts of Economics was super easy to get started. I handed my daughter the text and activity guide for chapter 1. The answer key was placed in a binder for her to grade her homework.

At which point she was able to get started.

She began by reading one topic in the text.

Next she began to answer the questions in the activity guide. Well, my daughter loathes writing in books, so she insisted on using a separate sheet of paper.

To be totally honest, I’m not that interested in economics. It’s my husband’s cup of tea, not mine. So she’s been chatting with hubby in the car about what she’s learning in economics.

And that’s what I love about homeschooling. You’re not tied down to a regular schedule for discussions and classes.

You can chat, discuss, and debate anywhere!

Periodically there’s a quiz to give to double check understanding and retention as well as a test at the completion of each chapter.

Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum makes independent study easy for teens and parents alike.
